bouquets of freshly sharpened pencils

The question that comes to mind is why are women obsessed with shopping? Why do we do it? What is it about a shiny new handbag that just draws us in like a moth to the fire? What is it about InStyle being thicker than usual that just makes us want to cancel our afternoon plans, curl into bed and inhale it along with a pint of Coffee ice cream? You know you've done it, your grabby hands finally get the Fall edition of your favorite magazine and it's like Christmas in September! It's like Santa has arrived! It's like a 50% off sale at Bloomingdales! It's like - well it's like Fall Shopping!

Ahhh... Fall fashions. My very favorite time of year. The weather changes, the environment turns golden, TV shows come back on, Summer is done (you can now enjoy fried foods, thankyouverymuch) and you find your mailbox stuffed with the most delicious, decadent, thick magazines a girl could wish for. Really, you dont believe you could be any happier unless Chuck Bass himself was stuffed in your mailbox. Your mind instantly begins working on how exactly you will be able to get away from everyone and anything and enjoy these lovely gifts at your favorite spot.

The only thing that comes to mind is Starbucks. I know, it's nearly sacriligious to speak or even think of overpriced mediocre coffee in our hard times but if this was really a blog about world peace and frugality I might feel bad. But this is not about that - this is about forgetting for a minute, you and your $4.79 magazine can conquer the world. You can mark with your favorite gel pen or trusty sharpie all the goodies you would buy if you could. That's what this is about; it's about loving shopping, loving the theraphy it brings and after all, loving being a girl. Because honestly, are we cute or what?
