The Fashionable Designer: Carolina Herrera

“It's very lean and very easy and very uncomplicated.”

I think the reason I admire Carolina so much is because she reminds me of my grandmother and this I mean as a compliment. My grandmother and even my grandmother dress/ed a lot like her. Everything fitted, well done, carried herself with an air of distinction and civility. Like Carolina, my grandmother has staples in her wardrobe. Carolina is known for her tailor crisp white blouse. I'm sure she owns hundreds and hundreds of them and they just make anything she wears that much more fabulous.

She always keeps her feminine distinctions and you can clearly tell she's the real HBIC. It feels lovely to have a Latina have so much influence and recognition in fashion. To be honest she's the typical woman in my family; elegant and poised but she means business and she can design like it's nobody's business. To me, she's a modern Coco Channel, a living embodiment of her brand and an inspiration. I need to look and act like her when I'm her age.

I found a few pieces that reminded me of her

Granted, we need to add some youth to her outfits but I think it's totally possible to be inspired by her.

Fashion Icon: Faye Dunaway

To say that Faye Dunaway was a fashion icon of her own is an understatement.Faye defined an entire generation; she represented a changing era. She came into films at the end of the 60's and she contradicted the trend of the 'hippy' girl which commandeered that era. To me, she represented what a lot of the 80's and late 70's would look like and she rocked it like no other. She had a fondness for nudes, hats and strong women. What's not to admire?

I choose three roles of her which I just love and to be honest, making this post has made me want to have a Faye Dunaway movie marathon.

The most famous one, Bonnie look with loads of hats, pencil skirts, form-fitting sweaters and the fabulous bob.

The Network look, mid-70's. Tons of nudes, blouses and scarves with soft waves in the hair.

And my personal favorite, The Thomas Crown Affair role. Optimal rich-girl look with over the top hats, gloves, classy chignons and mini-skirts and jaw-dropping backless dresses.

What are we thinking? Did Faye inspire you?

Fashion Icon: Reese Witherspoon

Oh Reese! I think all of us have some sort of a childhood memory of Reese. For some it may be 'Man on the Moon' for others something like 'Cruel Intentions' but despite which film role made us love her we all have to admit that the girl has style. For me it was 'Far and Away' a small Disney film that never made it far but I still remember watching her in it, little did I know that I would come to love the way she carried herself and the way she dressed.

The busy lady, mother of two with seventeen careers has won one word for me: polished. Reese does NOT hit the red carpet unless she looks absolutely stunning. Like Michelle Obama type of stunning. Though she prefers a more laid back look in her everyday life and if you catch her on her work out days you'd argue with me but for the most part you've got to tip your hat to her. She looks to be very involved with her kids and her career and she can still pull a pair of skinny jeans with flats and huge sunglasses and rock it.

I think the one thing I love the most about Reese is her signature cocktail dress. I mean she can rock the cocktail dress like I've never seen before. I put together some humble outfits to attempt to approximate to Reese. I hope she inspires you!
