Trend: The Great Silver Rush

I've been feeling it, I'm not going to hide it. Silver has just been calling to me. So it got me thinking... can one really feel the silver without going to the extreme rebellious-girl rocker? Ripped tights & spikey-jewelery is just really not me. The answer is yes!

With silver/light grays becoming more and more the staple we're having much more variety coming our way. The trick is, like everything, not to overdo it. You're not attempting to look like the tin man. This is fashion not theater. Pick a piece or two and then put your outfit together. As you'll see below my personal favorite combination with silver/grays is lilac. I just LOVE it together.

Like I said, there's TONS of silver pieces now available. A cheap way to update your wardrobe to embrace the silver is silver nail polish, some cheap yet classy silver jewelry or some silver ribbon. You can use it to wrap your old headbands with a new trendy color.

What are you thinking? Are you also feeling the silver?

dont step on my gray suede shoes!

Remember I went a bit nuts about having a pair of gray suede mary-janes in this post? Yeah. Guess who just got a pair and for $50! Me! I tried them on with my wine-colored stockings and I'm in love. I can't to wear this with my gray tweet dress. It'll be love!

I'm starting to pack today since work is sending me all week to Washington D.C. and it'll definitely be colder there than here but the favorite part of this is that I will finally get to wear my new peacoat I had found at a HUGE sale in the Summer for $40 and it's Jcrew. :) The gods of fashion always shine down on me.

On nail polish news, OPI's new  Holiday Wishes collection. I HAD (notice the necessity of it all) to buy a few of them. Just a couple. Purple being my very favorite nail polish color was the first I went for, after seeing it at ALU, Sapphire in the Snow was the MUST have of the collection.

And I have to say I just didn't think it was as awesome as my all time favorite purple, Louvre me, Louvre me not from the France collection.

I think it's too... blue. (ALU's swatch is much truer to color, mine got lighter with the flash.) While Louvre me, Louvre me not is just the perfect shade of purple. That might be the shade for this week me thinks.

Please excuse the bad painting job, the official manicure is tomorrow and I've just been adding shades on top of my existing polish to try them on.

today's outfit: happy cowgirl

So part of this weekend was spent watching Pasion de Gavilanes and I really shouldn't have because it's one of those corny Spanish soaps that becomes addictive and you find yourself wanting to know what happens yet it's so bad you're ashamed of yourself? C'mon, we've all been there. So the three female leads wear a lot of jeans and a lot of skirts with knee-high boots.

By the time I made myself part with the DVD I was somehow wishing I lived in a ranch, rode horses and held on tightly to family values (and of course had a HOT Reyes brother after me, that would be great too!) I shouldn't have shared this info with my boyfriend because he laughed at me and said I would never survive in a ranch. He's right, of course, the mere thought of manual labor and shoveling horse excrement sends me into anaphylactic shock but it doesn't hurt to dress like it and walk around pretending I'm a cowgirl, right? Right! So that is what happened this morning. I slipped out of the house before he woke up because I KNOW he would've made fun of me.

Dress, Suzi Chin $72, Lace Camisole, Vanity Fair $14, Suede Boots, Rebels $80, Purse, Sabina $225, Stone Chains, Arden B $18, Ring, Coach $58, Polish, Essie 'Sole Mate' $8, Eyeshadow, Quad by Clinique 'Blacks to Violets' $25

Yeah? Nay? Oh whatever, give me a pony and a straight man in tight jeans and I'm game.

Suede Royal

It seems like Purple Suede is the way to go and let me tell you that no one is more willing to embrace it than me. I love suede and I love purple so having accents like Leighton's bag pop up made me super deliriously happy. And now Kaley Cuoco steps out in these stunning Brian Atwood pumps and I'm just like ready to replace my entire closet in purple suede.

I happen to be absolutely in love with them. Atwood runs pretty pricey especially for someone that works in education (I know, I need a new profession) these are at least $500-something. Just wondering, what do you think of them?

And because I couldn't let this drop I hunted some cheaper alternatives for purple suede pumps.

Me Too, $99, Bottega Veneta $276 (on sale!), Spiegel $59, Michael Antonio $50, Wet Seal $15, BCBG $89, Franco Sarto $89 & Jessica Simpson $75

today's outfit: the girly prep

Going back to my ever so favorite preppy looks I continued with my dress/skirt tirade. I can't help it. There's something fun and lovely about wearing a skirt with sky-high heels and a lovely purse. I grabbed a purple dress that had been chilling in my closet for a while without any interaction and I paired it up with my new cream fishnet stockings that arrived in the mail. (<3 the mail)

It come out something like this:

Dress, Calypso $175, Cashmere Cardigan, Jcrew $99, Cable Stockings, DYNY $18, Shoes, TypeZ $79, Handbag, LV $690, Belt, Michael Kors $22, Necklace, Charlotte Russe $15.50, Polish, Essie 'Mink Muffs' $8.50

Very simple and you can recreate it at home. Grab your favorite girly dress, throw on a cardigan, belt-it, add some fishnet or cable stockings, some heels, your favorite cream shoes, some faux pearls and a neutral bag. VOILA! Instant hottie!

I bought my LV Speedy back when I was in my early 20's, to be honest it comes out to play like never. I think it's a bit pretentious but for the money I paid for it I just use it every once in a while then I quickly switch to my Michael Kors which is my current favorite <3 Because that LV is the most uncomfortable little thing in the face of this planet. I can barely squish my purple netbook in it before I have to take it out and it creates another dilema. /end of purse rant

Matte About You: Post 2

I continue trying out this Matte look, this week I attempted Mink Muffs in Essie's Fall Collection. To be honest I don't think I'm crazy about this color. I think I have realized I'm just a girly-girl and enjoy the pinks, purples, red & beige and on occasion I will throw in some orange, blue or green. On occasion. :)

So here is the swatch in case you enjoy these and want to try them out. Once more, this is using Essie's Matte About You as a top coat to give it the effect.

This is how the color originally looked, 2 coats and 1 clear top coat

and then I added the Matte:

I know the picture tends to give it a purple-ish tone but it's not the case in RL, it's more of a gray. Since I wear so much gray in my wardrobe because I dont like black on my skin tone this sort of blends in. I like color in my nails to POP from the gray tones I'm already sporting.

a little bit good

I think my biggest challenge when lusting after outfits is to make them work-appropriate because really, this is where I spend most of my time. Five days a week - sometimes six - and I find that the majority of my closet is office-aimed. Because I have no choice, because even if I were to meet up friends after for drinks or dinner I still need to look presentable in the office. When I spotted this Blair outfit I was like - in love. Seriously. I thought I would not be able to replicate it until I found the skirt. And you know, sometimes all you need is one piece and everything else comes in place from there. So here it is, the work-friendly Waldorf.

I can't wear the strappy blouse to work because quite honestly I'd freeze to death and you'll find me years later (at least I'd look cute) but also because these straps are not appropriate for work. So I found a more conservative blouse that still has the regal feel of this outfit along with its playfulness.

Spotted Skirt, Miss Selfridge $10, Blouse, Modcloth $50, Purse, Marc B $57, Shoes, Aldo $90, Bracelet, Kenneth Jay Lane $163, Polish, Rescue Beauty Lounge $18

I changed the purse because I wouldn't be able to even fit my blackberry into that tiny little thing and quite honestly I carry a lot more shit in my purse. My purse is my life so it needs to be roomy and big. I know the purse looks small here but on the model it looks a descent size (I realize that's an oxymoron as many things can look quite large placed against a model).
